Grammar

N2· hand-written

~に基づいて

~ ni motozuite

Based on; in accordance with; grounded in

When to use it

Use when citing a formal, authoritative source — a contract, regulation, dataset, research finding, or policy — as the explicit basis for an action or judgment. More binding and reference-specific than を踏まえて (which absorbs context); に基づいて points to a named document or standard and says "this is the rule I'm following." Near-ubiquitous in contracts, legal notices, formal proposals, compliance explanations, and research reports.
