When to use it

Use ～に加えて when stacking one factor on top of another in explanation or analysis — typically in reports, proposals, and email where you list compounding causes or added conditions. It is noticeably more formal than ～も／それに, and the clipped form ～に加え belongs to written and prepared-speech register (meeting summaries, press releases). Unlike ～ばかりか／どころか it carries no surprise or emphasis; it is neutral addition.

Formation

Noun + に加えて／に加え：円安に加えて
Verb (plain form) + ことに加えて／のに加えて：受注が減っていることに加え
i-adjective (plain form) + ことに加えて：納期が短いことに加え
na-adjective + なことに加えて：不透明なことに加え
～に加え (no て) is the stiffer, more written variant; ～に加えまして appears in keigo email.
The second clause usually contains も or さらに: 「Aに加えて、Bも～」
