When to use it
Use ～に他ならない in written or formal spoken Japanese to assert emphatically that something is nothing but X — identifying a cause, essence, or true nature with no room for other interpretation. It is common in reports, speeches, and formal email for both praise (crediting a result to someone) and criticism (naming something for what it really is). Because it is a strong, conclusive assertion, avoid it in casual conversation; the polite form に他なりません suits speeches and correspondence.
