Due to; per; regarding

When to use it

Formal written marker with three distinct uses: (1) causal — "due to [reason]," on official notices and announcements; (2) ratio/unit — "per [unit]," in pricing and policy documents; (3) topical — "regarding [matter]," in memos and correspondence headers. More elevated register than ため (tame) or について (ni tsuite) — appears on public signage, contract clauses, internal circulars, and formal letters. Almost never spoken; overwhelmingly written.

Formation

  1. 本日はシステムメンテナンスにつき、オンラインサービスを一時停止しております。 Honjitsu wa shisutemu mentenansu ni tsuki, onrain sābisu o ichiji teishi shite orimasu. Due to system maintenance today, online services are temporarily suspended.

  2. 本セミナーは参加者一名につき資料一部をご用意しております。 Hon seminā wa sankasha ichimei ni tsuki shiryō ichibu o go-yōi shite orimasu. For this seminar, one set of materials has been prepared per participant.

  3. 先日ご提示いただいた契約条件につき、数点確認させていただきたく存じます。 Senjitsu go-teiji itadaita keiyaku jōken ni tsuki, sūten kakunin sasete itadakitaku zonjimasu. Regarding the contract terms you presented the other day, there are a few points I would like to confirm.
